Spring is just around the corner and you know what that means? Spring cleaning! Just as you would clean and declutter your house, your vehicle needs the same. Here are our top 10 Vehicle Cleaning Tips as written by The Car Lady.
Never use dish soap or household soap for washing your car. Car soap has the proper UV protection for your vehicle. Car washes use the proper soaps, touchless car wash is best. A cold water chamois will remove water spots.
Remove bird droppings from the paint with baby wipes. They also work well on the doors and sills to keep you from getting salt on your pants in the winter.
Remove tree sap and road tar with Gas Line Antifreeze. Turn the bottle over on a clean cloth and work in circular motion. Wipe excess with a wet paper towel. In the Autumn, you can use the remainder in the fuel tank.
If you have leather seats, you should clean and condition them regularly. Use a leather conditioner with proper UV protection for your vehicle. Spot clean as needed.
Salt will come up out of carpets with a little vinegar and water. 1 cup of vinegar and 3 cups of hot water and a brush will bring up the nap of the carpet and you can blot the salt away.
Use plain, ammonia free glass cleaner. Chemicals in household cleaners can damage the tint on windows. Use coffee filters instead of paper towels for cleaning, they are lint free!
If your windshield starts blurring when you turn on the wipers on, dampen a cloth or rag with some full-strength white vinegar and run it down the length of the blade until clean.
Car wash wax is fine but it doesn't last. For a great shine it is best to do yourself. Use old socks on your hands to apply. Liquid wax is great, follow the directions on the product.
In the winter, spray high quality wash fluid on top of ice and snow on windshield and lights. It will break up ice better, defrost faster and cleans it as you are scraping.
A Swiffer works well on the dash and vents for dust, and a damp soft cloth for cleaning. Use a dry eye glasses cloth on screens.
